for Lent, i'm giving up the iPhone

so AT&T has figured out that people that will pay $400+ for the iPhone, will also pay $150 month to use said iPhone...

which i begrudgingly paid...so here was my plan:

2000 minutes - $99
iPhone data plan - $20
text message plan (M2M text + 200 texts) - $10

after taxes it was about $150/mo....however, even though i have a contract, AT&T decided to drop the text message plan. So I get a bill for $250. yes, i text *that* much. $100 in text overages. i'm a texter.

so, AT&T is explaining to me that they discontinued the plan I ordered and they will credit me for this month, but in the future, to avoid a high bill, they can offer me this other, more expensive plan. And at that moment, i realize that because i love the iPhone so much, i'm willing to let AT&T f- me. I mean, the service sucks...my calls drop daily....and they change my plan at will, regardless of the mandatory 'contract'...but the iPhone is so great, it overcomes AT&T's many many shortcomings.

So that's when i realized the iPhone is my personal crack...and yes, i have had a CrackBerry, and got a RAZR as a form of smartphone rehab...but it wasn't the same...i missed mobile internet. and a qwerty keyboard. and email. personal email. work email - not so much.

so for lent, i'm giving up my iPhone and i'm going back to my RAZR just to see if I can do it...

man. it's only been 5 seconds and i feel so ... disconnected.

you know what. who am i kidding. i'm weak. i can't do it. i'll just give AT&T my blood sweat and tears. and buy some of their stock...............if they can get me to blog about how much they suck, AND STILL pay them almost $200/mo, they've got to be profitable in any economy...well, i just checked the stock price on my iPhone (see how useful this thing is), and they are down, like everyone else. But regardless...for the fact that i'm sitting at my computer, but checked the stock price on my phone instead of pulling up Yahoo Finance shows just how much i *need* my iPhone.

as for lent, well it's a good think i'm not actually catholic.
